A new parish hall for our community
St. Hallvard parish is planning a necessary renovation of the parish hall. For many years we have had challenges with the acoustics, as well as water leaks. We are about to do something about it. Together, let’s make the parish hall an even better place to meet.
Why we’re upgrading
The parish hall is an important gathering point for the congregation. It’s a room we use for many activities, such as catechetics, meetings, church coffee and celebrations. For many years there has been a desire to improve the room; especially the acoustics.
The roof, which has been suffering from leaks, is currently being repaired by the diocese. It’s an opportune time to upgrade the hall. What we want to achieve:
- Better acoustics: New acoustic panels on the walls and the ceiling that reduces noise.
- A new floor that dampens noise and gives the room a warmer and more holistic look. The floor has already reached the end of its useful life.
- Upgraded lighting with modern, energy-efficient lamps.
- Better furnishings that make church coffee and events setup smoother.
Improvements to everyday usability
In addition to the aesthetic changes, the hall will receive improvements that make use easier and more flexible:
- New, smart modular buffets and source sorting for recycling
- More user-friendly furniture for easier handling
- Upgraded benches in the anteroom and better storage
This provides all groups with better working conditions, and a more welcoming
experience for everyone who uses the room.
Where are we in the process?
The project design phase is complete, and we are ready to move forward during spring of 2026. What remains is to raise the funds needed to complete the upgrade of the parish hall. The church also needs to conduct other necessary maintenance, which makes this collection extra important.
The upgrade of the parish hall is estimated at approximately 3 million kroner. If you have an opportunity to contribute, any gift, small or large, will be an important investment in the common future of the parish.

You can support the project in two ways: either as a regular donor or one‑time contribution.
When you contribute to upgrading the parish hall, you also receive a tax benefit.
- You receive a 22% tax deduction on donations from NOK 500 to NOK 25,000 per year.
Examples:
- If you give NOK 1 000, you get NOK 220 back in reduced tax.
- If you give NOK 10 000, you get NOK 2 200 back.
- If you give NOK 25 000, you get NOK 5 500 back.
